Most Common Sprinkler Repair Issues

As long-time sprinkler repair specialists, we’ve encountered innumerable problems and mishaps with the water supply system – some of them simple, some of them not. If any of these ring a bell, now might be a good time to drop us a line.

Sprinkler Leakage

Usually, the first tell-tale sign that there is something wrong with your sprinklers is the utility bill spike. Owners can end up wasting water, which results in dramatic pressure loss, valve breakage, and dry lawn.

Clogged Sprinkler Head

Clogged Sprinkler Head

It is not uncommon for dirt and debris to get lodged in the filter and nozzles of your lawn sprinklers. This can deeply affect the efficacy of your irrigation system.

Removed Sprinkler Nozzles

Spray-type nozzles have a tendency to go AWOL due to mowing or general wear and tear. Sadly, this can decrease the water pressure, which spells insufficient lawn coverage, dry patches, and weed and fungus growth.

Broken Sprinkler Pipes

Bubbling water, wet areas, greener patches of grass – all this may be a sign of a broken pipe. In order to find and fix a broken pipe, our technician will be required to do a little excavation work.

Wiring Issues

Electrical malfunction in underground sprinkler systems is often one of the most complex issues. Fortunately, our seasoned specialists can mend spliced or damaged wires, using the latest wire tracers with pinpoint accuracy.

Controller/timer malfunctions can make operating your sprinklers close to impossible. Similarly, if the timer, rain and moisture sensor, or temperature sensor starts sending mixed signals, home owners could end up wasting a lot of water and money.

Backflow

Backflow is often the root cause of unleashing harmful chemicals into your drinking water. We can perform an advanced test to determine if your sprinkler system truly is vulnerable to backflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why would a sprinkler system stop working?

The sprinkler zones will not turn on at all. This is a common problem, and the key to solving it lies with figuring out if the controller or valve solenoids are receiving electrical signals. If your zones are able to be turned on manually you’re most likely experiencing an electrical issue. It is rare that faulty valves would cause your system to stop working. In this case it would require rebuilding or replacing valves. To rule it out though turn on the water source and inspect for flooding near the valve box.

How long does an irrigation system last?

The life expectancy of the average sprinkler system can range from three to twenty years, depending on the quality of your system parts, install and maintenance routine. You should also make sure that your sprinkler system is inspected at least once a year for any potential problems with water lines or other irrigation components.
